Karen Chisholm

When did you decide that you were going to be a singer?

in November of 1999 I received a diagnosis of thyroid cancer. the thyroid is in your neck and one of the forms i had to sign was to inform me that when i wake up from the surgery i might not be able to speak again. i was terrified of that of course since i really like to talk, but i definitely love to sing. when i woke up from the surgery and could talk i felt so overwhelmingly grateful that i went to church that weekend and THANKED GOD i could still talk. At that service, they were singing Amazing Grace and I realized not only could I sing, I could sing better than I ever did before because the cancer lump in my neck was gone. That is when I knew I would NEVER stop singing.
